National Carers Week 2018

This year, National Carers Week 2018 will be celebrated throughout Australia from 14 – 20 October.

National Carers Week is about recognising and celebrating the outstanding contribution Australia's 2.7 million unpaid carers make to our nation.

Anyone at any time can become a carer and National Carers Week is an opportunity to raise community awareness among all Australians about the diversity of carers and their caring roles.

Carers make an enormous contribution to our communities as well as our national economy. Should all carers decide to stop performing their caring role, it would cost the country $60.3 billion per year to replace those supports – that’s over $1 billion per week.

National Carers Week provides you with a chance to show your appreciation and learn about carers and caring in Australia.

This National Carers Week, we’re asking the question: why do you care?

If you’re a carer, you can share your caring story below – the more we share, the louder our voice will be! If you’re not a carer, we still want to hear why you think unpaid carers are so important to our communities.

Tell us why you care here.

Carers Victoria acknowledges the traditional owners of this land and pays respect to elders both past and present.
