Australia faces shortage of aged care places

A new report released by Alzheimer's Australia warns that Australia faces a shortage of 279,000 aged care places by 2050.

Caring Places creates projections for the future requirements for aged care places (including both residential care places and community care packages) and examines how this will impact on every federal electorate in Australia.

Based on current Government policy, the report predicts a an average deficit of 1,800 aged care places in every Commonwealth Electoral Division.

Aged and Community Services Australia (ASCA) say the research provides further evidence that aged care services must be a top priority for the Federal Government.
