Productivity Commission paves way for National Disability Insurance Scheme

The Productivity Commission's draft report on Disability Care and Support recommends a complete overhaul of the disability care and support system. It proposes two schemes:

  • A National Disability Insurance scheme to provide support to 360,000 people whose disability has a significant effect on their life and their families.
  • A National Injury Insurance Scheme which will provide support to people who suffer a catastrophic injury due to recreational and home based accidents or assault.

Carers Victoria will be leading the response on behalf of the National Network of Carer Associations.
