$500,000 funding boost for Lifeline services

A $500,000 boost in funding will see 12,000 extra calls for help answered by Lifeline counsellors every year.

Lifeline’s national office and its service in Geelong will each receive $50,000 per year and the Warrnambool service will receive $25,000 per year to expand telephone counselling support services.

For the first time ever, the Victorian Government will also fund the Lifeline national office, which will allow for 5,700 more calls to be answered between midnight and 6am, when people may feel most alone or vulnerable.

Lifeline provides a 24 hour-7 day, year-round telephone counselling, information and referral service for grief and loss, family and relationship issues, mental health concerns, suicidal thoughts, violence and abuse and loneliness.
