Carers Victoria has developed tools and resources to help carers advocate for change and help us achieve a better future for Victoria’s unpaid carers. \nBy the end of this workshop\, you will have built your skills and confidence to engage with the tools and resources for our Carers Count Campaign. You will: \n\nknow what you want to say to your local MP to help make life fairer for carers\, using Carers Victoria’s five-point plan as a reference\n\n\nconfidently submit your advocacy letter or perhaps ask for a meeting with your local member of Parliament\n\n\nbe able to share this information with other carers and the wider community and download resources (like a poster for example) to assist you to spread the word.\n\nPlease note:\nYou will receive a short 20-minute background film prior to the workshop to inspire you before we get started. DESCRIPTION:A FREE online session for carers by Carers Victoria\n\n\nHave you ever wondered what would happen if you were unwell and could not keep up your caring role? \nDo you have a lot of important information about the person you care for all in your head? \nJoin our FREE online session for carers by Carers Victoria \nDeveloping an Emergency Care Plan for the Person you care for.\nPlanning for peace of mind. \nAbout this event \nThis 90 minute workshop is designed to help you consider and document what needs to be done to prepare for an emergency\, when you are not able to care for others\, as you usually would. This workshop will Include the following: \n\nWhy it is important to have an emergency care plan\n\n\nWhat kind of emergencies to plan for\n\n\nWho might be able to help in an emergency\n\n\nWhat key information needs to be documented in an emergency care plan\n\n\nPractice working through an emergency care plan template.\n\nNavigating an emergency can be very daunting. During this workshop\, we will work through a plan\, to help you plan ahead and hopefully keep peace of mind. This is an introduction to emergency care planning. \nPlease note \nThis workshop will not cover advanced care planning (Advanced care planning is a proactive process that helps individuals prepare for future healthcare decisions\, ensuring their wishes are respected if they become unable to communicate them). The focus of this workshop is how to provide continuity of care should something unexpected happen to you. \nLocation \nThis is an online event. Meet other carers outside the boathouse for a 9.15am start to a stunning walk along the Maribyrnong River. Arrive back at the Boathouse for a delicious brunch at 10.00am. Alternatively\, you can attend just the brunch at 10.00am. \nWho can attend \nOpen to carers living in the local government areas of Moonee Valley\, Brimbank\, Maribyrnong\, Melbourne\, Melton\, Wyndham and Hobsons Bay. \nNever attended a brunch or always missing out? The program is an introduction that offers an overview of key ideas and practices related to establishing and facilitating a group. \nAfter completing this program\, you will have the skills and confidence to: \n\nestablish a Carer Support Group\neffectively facilitate a Carer Support Group\nbetter understand the dynamic of working with groups.\n\nWho can attend \nThis workshop is suitable for people who: \n\nare volunteers and are unpaid\nplan to set up a new Carer Support Group\nhave recently established a Carer Support Group\norganise\, coordinate or facilitate meetings and would like to develop relevant skills\nare joining a volunteer-led committee\npreparing to assist your existing group leader.\n\nAbout the presenters \nSally and Kim are Carer Educators at Carers Victoria.
