Hosted by Carers Victoria for the Grampians region community\, who are in unpaid care roles. \nThe day will include a nourishing morning tea & lunch\, a native tea tasting and a mindfulness session with local Art Therapist Jodie Matthews\, this session is designed to support carers in recognising and celebrating their resilience\, while also exploring ways to nurture their wellbeing. No art experience is required. \nAfter lunch activities will include indoor bowls or a wander through the native botanical gardens. \nThe day will provide the opportunity to meet and connect with some local support services in your region. And we will send you home with a sweet little carers gift to help you stay connected to the caring community. \nA bus has been organised to transport carers to and from Halls Gap; the meet up location is in Horsham. Please register for the bus upon registration and further details will be communicated on the lead up to the event. \nWho can attend \nThis half-day program is designed for carers who live in the Grampains and surrounding areas. \nPlease note \nRegistration is essential. One booking per carer. \nPlease share with your friends who are carers. \nAre you a Carer? Are you caring for a family member or friend? \nA carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to family members and/or friends with a disability\, mental illness\, substance addiction\, chronic health issue or an older person with care needs. \nThey are parents\, children\, partners\, other relatives and friends who assist with a variety of personal care\, health care\, transport\, navigating complex service systems\, managing financial tasks\, emotional support\, household chores and other activities.

Are you considering establishing a new carer support group? \nJoin our Community of Practice for Volunteer (unpaid) Facilitators of Carer Support Groups. DESCRIPTION:Do you facilitate a carer support group as part of your paid work\, and are looking for training to enhance your existing skills?\n\n\nA FREE two-session program for Employed/Paid Facilitators of Carer Support Groups by Carers Victoria. \nOur Carer Support Group Facilitator Training for employed/paid facilitators provides the key information and skills required to effectively run a carer support group. \nThe course is delivered in 2 hour blocks over a 2 week period; it is 4 hours of training in total. The course is facilitated by qualified educators who have a strong understanding about carers and sound experience in group dynamics and facilitation skills. \nSession 1 – Tuesday 21 October 2025 – 1pm – 3pm \nSession 2 – Tuesday 28 October 2025 – 1pm – 3pm \nTopics will include: \n\nConsiderations when establishing a carer support group – membership\, structure\, format\, logistics\n\n\nExploring the purpose and benefits of a carer support group\n\n\nSkills for facilitating a carer support group\, including creating a group agreement\n\n\nTuckman’s model of the lifecycle of a group\n\n\nActive listening skills\n\n\nExploring conflict management\n\n\nOngoing support for facilitators offered by Carers Victoria and access to a facilitator guide published by Carers Victoria.\n\nWho should attend \nThose who are new to the role of a carer support group facilitator and existing facilitators who wish to refresh and extend their knowledge and skills in this area. \n

Link will be provided on registration. \n  \nAbout this event \nHave you recently established\, or are you wanting to start a Carer Support Group? Or do you organise\, facilitate\, or participate in a volunteer-led committee responsible for a CSG? \nOur Carer Support Group Facilitator Training will equip you with the knowledge and skills to perform your role more effectively. The program is an introduction that offers an overview of key ideas and practices related to establishing and facilitating a group. \nAfter completing this program you will have the skills and confidence to: \n\nestablish a Carer Support Group\neffectively facilitate a Carer Support Group\nbetter understand the dynamic of working with groups.\n\n  \nWho can attend \nThis workshop is suitable for people who: \n\nare volunteers and are unpaid\nplan to set up a new Carer Support Group\nhave recently established a Carer Support Group\norganise\, coordinate or facilitate meetings and would like to develop relevant skills\nare joining a volunteer-led committee.\n\nPlease note \nParticipants register for both sessions at the same time. \nBoth sessions must be attended to complete the program. \n  \nThese sessions are for community members and volunteers only. If you facilitate a carer group\, peer support or yarning circle as part of your paid employment\, and would like to undergoe Facilitator training\, please contact our Sector team directly sectorengagement@www.carersvictoria.org.au.
