DESCRIPTION:To celebrate and acknowledge our families and carers for all they do for their care recipients we are hosting a laughing yoga session with Laughter Yoga Australia. \nThis is to be followed by a catered lunch. We would like to invite new mental health and or substance use carers into the Grampians Connect Centre and look forward to celebrating and supporting their caring roles. \nTo register for this event please call 1800 962 008 or email Grampiansmhwconnect@mindaustralia.org.au to speak with a Peer Practitioner who will assist you in registering. \nThe Grampians Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect Centre is a Department of Health funded service that supports families\, carers\, and supporters of people with mental health and substance use challenges. Support is given from a family and carer peer support perspective. All staff who work at the centre have family carer lived experience.  This support happens in the drop in Connect Centre\, over the phone\, in carer peer support groups and through information sessions. \n  \n

We would like to invite new mental health and or substance use carers into the center and look forward to celebrating and supporting their caring roles. \nTo register for this event please call 1800 962 008 or email Grampiansmhwconnect@mindaustralia.org.au to speak with a Peer Practioner who will assist you in registering. \nThe Grampians Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect Centre is a Department of Health funded service that supports families\, carers\, and supporters of people with mental health and substance use challenges. Support is given from a family and carer peer support perspective. All staff who work at the Centre have family carer lived experience.  This support happens in the drop in Connect Centre\, over the phone\, in carer peer support groups\, and through information sessions. \n

DESCRIPTION:Food for Thought: Dinner\, Learning\, and Connection for Families and Carers of People Using Alcohol and/or Drugs \nJoin Family Drug Support during Carers Week for an evening of dinner\, practical learning and connection with other families and carers impacted by someone else’s alcohol or other drug use. \nA catered dinner is included\, followed by an interactive Stepping Forward: Setting Workable Boundaries session. \nSetting boundaries can be difficult when you care about someone using alcohol or other drugs. Families can find themselves caught between wanting to help\, trying to prevent harm\, and protecting their own wellbeing. \nDuring the session\, we will explore: Why setting boundaries can be difficult.\nHow to set realistic boundaries that protect your wellbeing.\nTips for communicating your boundaries.\nRespond when boundaries are challenged.\nMaintain connection with your person while changing how you respond to their substance use.The session is practical and designed specifically for families and carers. You can participate in discussion and reflection without any expectation to share personal details. \nYou will also have a chance to connect with other families and carers who understand the experience and learn more about the Footscray Family Drug Support Group and ongoing support available from Family Drug Support and the Western Metro Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect Centre \nThis event is for family members and carers of people using alcohol and/or other drugs. DESCRIPTION:The Manager Is Me is a funny\, moving solo theatre work about the invisible labour of caring\, parenting\, working and somehow trying to hold onto yourself in the middle of it all. \nWritten and performed by 2025 Victorian Australian Poetry Slam Champion Dayna Fallon\, the show draws on her own experience of caring for her husband through complex health issues while raising three young children and working. \nThrough comedy\, spoken word and theatre\, The Manager Is Me shines a light on the emotional and practical work carers do every day — often quietly\, often behind closed doors\, and often without even thinking of themselves as carers. \nIt is a show about being the person everyone relies on\, making people laugh when things are falling apart\, and what happens when the person doing all the caring finally needs care too. \nFunny first\, but with real emotional weight underneath\, The Manager Is Me aims to help carers feel seen and to encourage audiences to recognise the caring work happening around them every day. \nPerforming at The Salon\, The Motley Wherehaus\, as part of Melbourne Fringe 2026.
