SUMMARY:Just for Carers: Yoga\, Tea & Connection: National Carers Week 2025
DESCRIPTION:What’s it all about? \nJoin us for a nurturing and restorative workshop designed specifically for carers\, where we will come together to sit\, sip tea\, and explore the multifaceted practice of yoga. This unique experience goes beyond the physical postures\, inviting you to connect with yourself and others in a supportive environment. \nIn this workshop\, we will blend gentle yoga practices with mindful tea sipping\, creating a space for relaxation and connection. As we flow through various yoga techniques\, we will also delve into the deeper aspects of yoga\, including breathwork\, meditation\, and the philosophy that underpins this ancient practice. \nWhether you are new to yoga or have been practicing for years\, this workshop is tailored to meet you where you are. You will have the opportunity to share your experiences\, connect with fellow carers\, and cultivate a sense of community. \nCome and discover the joy of yoga\, the warmth of tea\, and the power of connection! \nWho will be leading the session? \nSarah will be leading this special session\, just for carers. \nAfter moving back to the Macedon Ranges in 2016\, the opportunity to practice Yoga\, on a personal level\, unfolded for Sarah. Having passionately practiced Pilates for years\, Sarah embraced the mat and Yoga teachings with a new curiosity\, and quickly found that it offered a unique and calming practice\, whilst providing a beautiful sense of coming home. \nIn 2021\, having worked in the health industry for 14 years\, Sarah completed the 200hr ‘Teaching Training: Beginning Level’ though the Integral Yoga Academy\, as she felt there is much to gain from regularly practicing such a holistic offering. Sarah has since completed the Level 1 Kids Yoga Training with Yoga Kids Training Academy\, with much appreciation for the fun and creativity such practice invites. \nNow affiliated with Yoga Australia\, Sarah is honoured to share space and passion for a practice she believes can strengthen and inspire the mind\, body and soul. \nAdditional Information \nThe Yoga\, Tea and Connection Workshop for Carers will run on Monday 17th November between 11am – 12.30pm. SUMMARY:National Anti-Scam Centre's Aged Care Forum on Romance Scams
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to the National Anti-Scam Centre’s Aged Care Forum on Romance Scams\, to be held online on Wednesday 19 November\, 2:00 – 3:45 PM AEDT. \nWhy this forum matters \nIn 2024\, scammers stole over $156 million from Australians through romance scams\, with consumers aged 55+ suffering the greatest losses. Romance scammers deceive their victims through emotional manipulation and social engineering\, fabricating elaborate stories to encourage their victims to send money. Many reports regarding older victims are made by concerned third parties including in-home and residential carers. Evidence indicates that older Australians are more hesitant to disengage from a romance scam\, suggesting that a coordinated\, consistent approach to disengagement is essential for supporting this cohort.   \nAged care service providers and client-facing staff have unique opportunities to support older Australians’ resilience to romance scams. Through this free online forum for the aged care sector\, the National Anti-Scam Centre is seeking to: \n\nHear your experiences of romance scams targeting older Australians.  \nEquip client-facing staff and management with knowledge and resources to better identify\, protect against\, and respond to romance scams. \nShare current trends and risks associated with romance scams (and other scam types generally). \nExplore collaborative approaches to awareness and prevention. \nProvide opportunities for you to ask any questions you may have. \n\nHow you can participate\nTo RSVP\, and to help us shape the content for the event\, please email clayton.fopp@accc.gov.au by Monday 10 November and let us know:  \n\nYour name\, email address\, and organisation. \nOptional: Any questions for the National Anti-Scam Centre that you’d like answered. (You’ll also be able to ask questions on the day)  \nOptional: Any experience you or your staff have had with romance scams\, and if you’d be willing to share these briefly in the forum. \n\nAn agenda\, meeting link\, and other information will be sent to participants closer to the event. In the meantime\, please mark Wednesday 19 November\, 2:00 – 3:45 PM AEDT in your diary\, and if you’d like more information about the National Anti-Scam Centre\, please visit nasc.gov.au.  \nPlease don’t hesitate to get in touch with Clayton Fopp at the email above if you have any questions or would like to know more. \nWe look forward to seeing you at the forum!
