It is not only a practical decision\, but also an emotional journey. For many carers\, this step can bring up feelings of relief\, uncertainty\, guilt\, or even grief\, alongside hope for greater independence\, and opportunity. \nJoin Presenters Stefanie Colella\, Scope Business Development Manager and Hayley Maxwell\, an experienced Disability Sector Professional\, to guide you through: \n– Understanding the home and living services and supports available under the NDIS \n– Ensuring you have the right team to support you to get the best possible outcomes \n– Understand how disability accommodation funding works \n– The steps to take to secure the right housing solution. \nThe presentation will be followed by a Q&A session\, giving you the chance to ask questions relevant to your situation. \nThis is a practical\, supportive session to help carers feel more informed and confident about the journey toward independent and appropriate housing for their family member or friend. \nLocation \nThis is an online event. Stefanie brings a strong background in developing partnerships\, client/participant advocacy\, and delivering innovative housing solutions that empower people with a disability to live with greater choice and independence. \nWith a background in psychology and health care management\, coupled with over 25 years’ experience working alongside people and families living with mental illness\, neuropsychiatric illness\, and other physical disabilities\, Stefanie has led projects in service design\, co-design\, and implementation across hospitals\, community health\, and not-for-for profit organisations. \nStefanie’s focus is on driving growth in disability housing and supports by building meaningful relationships\, identifying opportunities\, and ensuring services remain participant-centred\, sustainable\, and responsive to community and client needs. \nHayley Maxwell has over 10 years’ experience in the disability sector\, supporting individuals and families to navigate the NDIS. DESCRIPTION:An online session about the most recent changes to the NDIS and some changes to come.\n\n\n\nJoin us for this online MyTime session about the latest and upcoming changes to the NDIS. \nIn this presentation\, Kim Henderson will provide a discussion on the changes occurring and still to come in the NDIS space. Kim will share the official information provided by the NDIA and will also discuss what she is experiencing day-to-day with participants\, planning and other processes following these changes. \nParticipants will gain knowledge about: \n\nchanges to the NDIS processes\, programs and legislation\nwhere are we with new government initiatives such as Thriving Kids and Support Needs Assessments\nwhat is currently happening with reassessments and impairment notices\nfrequently changing guidelines such as therapy and ‘respite’\nhow changes might impact carers\, children and families.\n\nThis session is for parents\, carers and families of NDIS participants of all ages. \nPresenter bio: Kim Henderson \nKim has worked in the disability sector in Victoria for 40 years\, completing disability nursing\, behaviour support planning and leadership along the way. Having worked across every facet of disability support\, from institution support worker to day service coordinator to managing a disability specific organisation\, Kim now uses her experience and knowledge to provide plain English support to families and individuals across the NDIS space supported through a local municipal council. \nShe has one daughter who is a NDIS participant and has relocated to America for her work and another daughter who lives in Western Australia with Kim’s beautiful twin grandchildren.

DESCRIPTION:A FREE online session for carers by Carers Victoria\n\n\nDeveloping an Emergency Care Plan for the Person you care for\nPlanning for peace of mind \nHave you ever wondered what would happen if you were unwell and could not keep up your caring role? \nDo you have a lot of important information about the person you care for all in your head? \nAbout this event \nThis 90 minute workshop is designed to help you consider and document what needs to be done to prepare for an emergency\, when you are not able to care for others\, as you usually would. This workshop will Include the following: \n\nWhy it is important to have an emergency care plan\n\n\nWhat kind of emergencies to plan for\n\n\nWho might be able to help in an emergency\n\n\nWhat key information needs to be documented in an emergency care plan\n\n\nPractice working through an emergency care plan template.\n\nNavigating an emergency can be very daunting. During this workshop\, we will work through a plan\, to help you plan ahead and hopefully keep peace of mind. This is an introduction to emergency care planning. \nPlease note \nThis workshop will not cover advanced care planning (Advanced care planning is a proactive process that helps individuals prepare for future healthcare decisions\, ensuring their wishes are respected if they become unable to communicate them). The focus of this workshop is how to provide continuity of care should something unexpected happen to you. \nLocation \nThis is an online event. A link will be provided upon registration. \nWho should attend \nThis session is open to all carers and their families. \nAttendance is free\, but registration is required. \nAbout the presenters: \nKim Repcak and Sally Camilleri are Carer Educators with Carers Victoria.
