DESCRIPTION:Calling all young carers! We’ve got some exciting news. \nFrom 2 March to 31 July 2026\, Carer Gateway is running the Young Carer Art Competition\, and there are some huge prizes up for grabs. \nCreate a drawing\, painting\, photograph or other artwork on paper or canvas inspired by the theme ‘Your Art\, Your Voice’. The best entries will be showcased at a Young Carer Art Exhibition later in the year. \nHow to Enter: \n\nRegister with Carer Gateway for free: Call 1800 422 737 (Mon–Fri\, 8am–5pm) or fill out this form to start the registration process. Our Carer Gateway team will discuss how we can support your caring role.\nSubmit your artwork: Take a photo of your artwork and email it to CGCarerEngagement@holstephealth.org.au\, along with a short paragraph explaining your piece\, before July 31st.\n\nWho can enter: The competition is open to young carers aged 25 or under who care for a family member\, friend or loved one\, even if it’s only for a few hours a week. If this applies to someone you know – tell them to get involved! \nHow to win a prize: We’re taking submissions from all young carers\, but if you want to be in the running to win a prize you will need to be registered with Carer Gateway (it’s free!). \nThe competition is open across three age groups: \n\n12 and under\n13–18 years\n19–25 years\n\nPrizes for each age group: \n\n1st prize: $500\n2nd prize: $250\n3rd prize: $100\n\nImportant Dates: \n\nCompetition closes: 31 July 2026\nWinners announced: 31 August 2026\n\nWe can’t wait to see what you come up with! \nPlease note: You must be registered with Carer Gateway by 14 August to be eligible for prizes. DESCRIPTION:Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) offers physically and psychologically safe experiences with horses. \nEAL gives participants an opportunity to explore issues or feelings that may be troublig them. It also provides a safe space to simply enjoy being with the peaceful horses. \nNo riding is involved in this practice. Individuals do not need to have had experience with horses to participate. \nThis is a Carer specific program where previous participants have found it to be transformative for their caring role. \nCarers need to be available to attend all 4 sessions to garner the full benefit of the program. DESCRIPTION:The Pines Learning and Each Family Relationship support for Carers invite you to join this series of workshops for Carers which runs for 6 weeks\, on Tuesday mornings at MC2 (Manningham City Square) in Doncaster to give Carers strategies to help calm a busy mind\, to ease tension in the body and meet the difficult moments with kindness and steadiness. \nThe focus is on Carer Wellbeing\, helping Carers to feel more grounded\, connected and sustained\, drawing on breathwork\, visualisation and somatic grounding\, and guided reflection to find calm. \nEach Family Relationships for Carers have subsidised the cost for unpaid Carers total payment for 6 weeks is $42\, just $7 per session.

SUMMARY:Create an Emergency Care Plan
DESCRIPTION:This 90 minute workshop is designed to help you consider and document what needs to be done to prepare for an emergency\, when you are not able to care for others\, as you usually would. \nThis workshop will include the following:\n– Why it is important to have an emergency care plan\n– What kind of emergencies to plan for\n– Who might be able to help in an emergency\n– What key information needs to be documented in an emergency care plan\n– Practice working through an emergency care plan template. \nPlease note: this workshop will not cover advanced care planning. Advanced care planning is a proactive process that helps individuals prepare for future healthcare decisions\, ensuring their wishes are respected if they become unable to communicate them. The focus of this workshop is how to provide continuity of care should something unexpected happen to you. \nThis event is free to attend\, and morning tea is provided. Preschool aged children (0-6 years) are welcome. While you join the session\, a MyTime play leader will engage children in meaningful play nearby. \nMyTime is a peer support program for parents and carers of children with disabilities\, developmental delays\, or chronic medical conditions. It offers connection\, support\, and resources in a safe and welcoming space. \nEligibility: Open to parents and carers of children up to 18 years of age with disability\, developmental delay\, or chronic medical conditions. \nRSVP: Spaces are limited—registration is essential.

DESCRIPTION:Wellbeing Workshops for Carers is a free\, 10-week program designed to support carers to focus on their own health and wellbeing in a welcoming\, supportive environment. \nThe weekly sessions use gentle movement\, circus-inspired activities and creative play to reduce stress\, build confidence and encourage connection with others who share similar caring experiences. Sessions are relaxed\, non-competitive and adaptable\, with space to move at your own pace. \nWho is it for? \nThese workshops are for carers aged 18+ of any gender\, including those providing paid or unpaid support to someone with illness\, disability\, mental health needs or age-related frailty. \nNo prior experience is required\, and all activities are tailored to suit different bodies\, abilities\, cultural backgrounds and comfort levels. \nDates: \nWeekly sessions from Monday 20 April – Monday 29 June\, 1:30PM-3pm \n(No workshop on 8 June – King’s Birthday Public Holiday) \nYou can book for in for individual sessions or a package: sessions 1-5 or 6-10. \nWhere: \nWomen’s Circus\, 395 Barkly Street\, Footscray VIC \n  \nPresented by Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS) and Women’s Circus.
