Mind the Step

Carers Victoria is hosting Mind the Step, a four-part online program for those looking to maintain a healthy mind while caring for someone.

The program will be run by qualified counsellors via Zoom, 90 minutes each week, for carers in Portland, Horsham, Ballarat and Geelong areas.

Are you new to caring for a friend or family member?

Are you feeling uncertain?

Are you feeling stressed?

Are your mood and energy levels low?

Do you need a boost?

You may not think of yourself as a carer, but you are if you look after a partner, relative or friend who would find it difficult to manage without your support.

You may find yourself suddenly having to look after someone, or your responsibilities for that person may increase over time. There is no one rule on how this may affect you and impact you mental wellbeing. Many carers manage daily pressures for some time before taking steps towards seeking support.

Carers Victoria’s Mind the Step program will be of interest to carers looking to participate in a supportive program made especially for those who are noticing their mood and energy levels being impacted as a result of their caring role.

Program details

Carers Victoria will deliver this four-part online program to carers to explore issues surrounding change in mood and mental health within a caring role. These are closed groups run by a qualified counsellor, and numbers will be kept small to maintain a safe and supportive environment. Attendance at each session is important.

Locations and Duration

A four-part online program, 90 minutes each week, run over six weeks.

For carers in Portland:

Online via Zoom for 90 minutes each week. Wednesday mornings 7 – 21 October and 4 November 2020. Exact times to be confirmed.

Places are limited so please submit an Expression of Interest by 29 September

For carers in the Horsham, Ballarat and Geelong areas:

Online via Zoom for 90 minutes each week. Between 26 October – 23 November. Actual days and times to be confirmed. Please indicate your preferences in your Expression of Interest. Places are limited so please submit an Expression of Interest by 9 October.
