First-Ever National Carer Survey
Have your say for your chance to win an iPad 32GB WiFi
Victorian carers are invited to have their say by completing the first-ever National Carer Survey.
Carers come from all walks of life, cultural backgrounds and age groups. A carer is any individual who provides care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, drug and/or alcohol dependency, chronic condition, terminal illness or who is an older person with care needs.
There are around 2.65 million unpaid family and friend carers living in Australia, over 700,000 of whom live in Victoria. This includes 221,300 Victorians who are identified as primary carers, playing a key role in caring and assisting with communication, mobility and self-care.
Findings from the 2020 National Carer Survey will play a major role in improving our understanding of caring and carers’ lives.
Carers Victoria and other state and territory carers associations work with governments, policy makers and service providers to advocate for and address the needs of carers. Every survey response counts in building the evidence base for better support for carers nationally.
Carers Victoria CEO Scott Walker said, “The Carer Survey provides important research which enables carers to tell us what is and isn’t working in their caring role and in the systems they access. We strongly encourage every Victorian carer to have their say and contribute to the national picture of what it means to be a carer.”
The 2020 National Carer Survey is designed with the support of an expert reference committee, including several academics, carer representatives and government departments.
The survey is completely anonymous and is open to any family or friend carer over the age of 16. Survey respondents will have the option to go into the draw to win an iPad 32GB WiFi.
Key findings from the survey will be published in a publicly available report and survey data will be used in a range of further publications.
The 2020 National Carer Survey is available online until 5.00pm on Tuesday 30 June 2020.
