This 90 minute workshop is designed to help you consider and document what needs to be done to prepare for an emergency, when you are not able to care for others, as you usually would.
This workshop will include the following:
– Why it is important to have an emergency care plan
– What kind of emergencies to plan for
– Who might be able to help in an emergency
– What key information needs to be documented in an emergency care plan
– Practice working through an emergency care plan template.
Please note: this workshop will not cover advanced care planning. Advanced care planning is a proactive process that helps individuals prepare for future healthcare decisions, ensuring their wishes are respected if they become unable to communicate them. The focus of this workshop is how to provide continuity of care should something unexpected happen to you.
This event is free to attend, and morning tea is provided. Preschool aged children (0-6 years) are welcome. While you join the session, a MyTime play leader will engage children in meaningful play nearby.
MyTime is a peer support program for parents and carers of children with disabilities, developmental delays, or chronic medical conditions. It offers connection, support, and resources in a safe and welcoming space.
Eligibility: Open to parents and carers of children up to 18 years of age with disability, developmental delay, or chronic medical conditions.
RSVP: Spaces are limited—registration is essential.
