Carers Victoria Group Respite Program is a partnership with valued service provider Comfort Care and Community Services. This is a much-needed program for older people living in the Wyndham and Hobsons Bay areas who have a carer.
Carers can enjoy a four-hour window to rest, run errands, or catch up with friends while the person being cared for has a fabulous opportunity to make new friends, join in on fun activities, and explore the community through occasional outings.
There are two specific respite group options available in this pilot program:
- Myanmar Community Group.
- General Community Group.
The Myanmar Community Group is dedicated to our Burmese communities, helping older refugees reconnect with their rich culture, traditions, and language.
The General Community Group is a welcoming group for all older participants to experience an enhanced social connection for physical and emotional wellbeing.
To keep this support affordable, the cost is $12 per day ($3 per hour). This includes transport and a light meal.
(Small additional costs may apply for special excursions).
Initially while Carers Victoria pilots this respite program, the groups will be meeting fortnightly in Werribee on Wednesdays, 10 am – 2 pm.
Open to participants 65 years or over, or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Straight Island people.
Participant must live in:
