State Disability Plan: Carer Consultations

Detailed information statement

Carers Victoria is hosting carer consultations to support and amplify the voice of carers in the development of the new State Disability Plan (2027 –2031). The consultation sessions are an opportunity for unpaid carers of people with disability and/or with disability themselves to share their perspective of the current service system and priorities for the future.

The findings from the carer consultations will be provided in a detailed report to the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to consider in their preparation of the new plan.

What do the consultations involve?
  • All the consultation sessions will be held online.
  • The consultation will take approximately 60- 75minutes.
  • The consultation will be led by Carers Victoria. A facilitator will lead the discussion, with questions focusing on your perspective of the current system, what you would like to see improved and priorities for the future.
  • Prior to taking part in the consultation, you will be asked to provide some demographic information in the Expression of Interest form (gender, age, background etc). This information is required for the final consultation report, to show the diverse range of carer perspectives included.
  • To recognise your time and expertise, each person who takes part in the carer consultation will receive a $75 Prezzee voucher. This will be emailed to carers within a week of taking part.
When are the consultation sessions?

You can choose one of three consultation sessions being offered:

  • Carers of young children with disability - Tuesday 14th July, 7:00pm – 8:30pm
  • Carers with disability - Thursday 16th July, 10:30am -11:45am
  • Carers of adults with disability - Thursday 23rd July, 1:30pm – 2:45pm
How do I take part in the consultations?

You can register your interest in taking part in the consultations by completing the Expression of Interest form. If the session you have registered for is at capacity, we will provide alternate options for you to provide your input into the State Disability Plan. We will be in touch to confirm whether your registration is successful within one week, along with further details.

Please submit your expression of interest by 5pm on Monday 6th of July.

Privacy and confidentiality

The information you provide at the consultation group and in the online registration form will be securely maintained according to the Carers Victoria privacy policy.

  • Your data (transcript of focus groups, registration details etc) will only be accessible by Carers Victoria staff involved with State Disability Plan consultations.
