Carers Victoria recognises the vital role Carer Support Groups play in strengthening the wellbeing of carers. Carer groups provide emotional, social, and practical support, helping carers feel understood, connected and less isolated.

If you are a Carer Support Group facilitator - whether a paid facilitator or a dedicated volunteer - you are part of an essential support system — and we’re here to help you thrive.

We invite you to join our free Carers Victoria Carer Support Group Community. This statewide community of Carer Support Group (CSG) facilitators and leaders has exclusive access to tailored supports and resources.

Our Carer Support Group Facilitator Learning Program is a series of five online workshops designed to help experienced and new volunteer facilitators and leaders to run effective carer support groups. This is a supportive space for volunteer facilitators to learn from peers, discuss challenges, and feel supported in the important work you do.

Topics include: Promotion, Facilitation Skills, Group Dynamics, Resourcing your group, Self-care and Succession Planning.

Our two-part facilitator training introduces key concepts and practical skills for establishing and effectively facilitating a Carer Support Group. Build confidence and understand group dynamics, as well as making connections. Training is offered in streams, for both volunteer facilitators and those who run groups as part of their employment.

Network and Share

Carers Victoria’s Carer Support Group Facilitators online space has been created especially for facilitators of carer support groups to connect with peer facilitators, share ideas, resources, and challenges and find inspiration for your meetings.

The Facilitator Network (Employed facilitators) meeting is hosted to bring together paid / employed facilitators of Carer Groups across Victoria. It Carer Support Group Webpages update May 2026 creates an opportunity to meet, network and hear from facilitators in a range of areas and organisations. We welcome both new and experienced facilitators and encourage you to share your expertise, struggles and wisdom. Facilitators are encouraged to attend one or all sessions. There is no minimum requirement, and sessions will be tailored to the emerging needs of the group.

Experienced Support

Through our Carer Support Group Advisory team, paid and volunteer facilitators can access one-on-one support with an experienced Carer Victoria team member to explore challenges and strategies for their group. Contact Us if you would like advice about facilitating your Carer Support Group.
Carer Network members can list their group in our online Directory to reach new carers. Share your group’s focus, activities, meeting locations, and contact details. Carers Victoria promotes this directory to our carer members and networks.
Register your group
We offer free online and in person sessions on navigating services and carer wellbeing. Tell carers in your newsletters, emails or discuss at meetings. Carers can RSVP online to book a session. We can also run workshops for ten or more carers at the time and place you choose.

Practical resources for facilitators provides guidance on establishing and growing Carer Support Groups, offering essential information for setting up and running the groups effectively and successfully.

These grants are offered exclusively to groups in our Carer Support Group Community. The small grant provides funds for selected Carer Support Groups to enjoy a special celebration during National Carers Week.
