About Carers Victoria

About Carers Victoria

Carers Victoria is the statewide voice for family carers, representing and providing support to carers in Victoria.

On This Page

In Victoria, there are over 736,600 carers who provide an invaluable contribution to the people whose lives they touch as well as the wider community.

For over 25 years Carers Victoria has been working to ensure these hardworking carers are supported in their daily lives and aim to improve carers health, wellbeing, resilience, and financial security.

As the peak body for carers, we represent and support caring families throughout Victoria by working directly with them and collaborating with government, businesses and other community organisations to improve services, systems, and supports. Our support extends to connecting carers to a wide range of services, including counselling, funding support, respite, education, and training.

As the voice of carers, we encourage partnership with government and the health and community sectors to enhance service provision and improve the conditions for carers through policy development, research and advocacy so that their contribution to the Victorian community and economy is recognised and caring becomes a shared responsibility of family, community and the government.

Our core work includes:

  • Being the 'voice' of carers
  • Raising awareness of carers and caring in our communities
  • Being the place to go for all carers and for information about carers
  • Providing effective, quality services and programs to support the needs of carers and the people they care for
  • Create innovative services and products to meet the needs and service gaps for carers and the people they care for
  • Working to represent all carers, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander carers, carers from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, and LGBTIQA+ carers
  • Research, policy development and effective advocacy.

The Way We Work

Carers, the people they care for and their families are at the centre of everything we do; we support carers self-directing their services.

Our work is undertaken in close collaboration with carers, our member associations and strategic partners; working towards a common goal.

We act with integrity, ensuring accountable and ethical organisational practice.

As a national network our work encourages personal growth and empowerment of carers, the people they care for and their families.

We celebrate diversity and strive to provide inclusive services, recognising that carers come from all walks of life and have different needs.

We strive for innovation, and continuous improvement.

We achieve our mission through awareness raising, advocacy and the delivery of carer services.

We utilise and integrate digital technologies.
