Accidental Support & New Support Dynamics: Connection Group for people supporting loved ones in crisis (Roses in the Ocean)
Our relationship with the person or people we support through crisis can be complex. This might be because of the way that our support role and their need for support changes the dynamic, but it can also be linked to the way in which we started to support someone, or this support being a drastic change in the relationship more broadly.
Roses in the Ocean is the national lived experience of suicide organisation. This connection group will provide an opportunity for people supporting loved ones in crisis to connect with each other, to share experiences and understanding, led by facilitators with lived experience as suicide carers.
If you have supported someone you love deal with thoughts of suicide, crisis, self-harm or suicide attempts, this group is for you.
Theme for this Event: Accidental support & navigating new support dynamics
This Connection Group will focus on exploring what it can be like to seemingly 'fall' into a supporter role and will provide space to connect with others who understand, and who might also still be working to understand their support role and what it means.
Connection Group Details
- Date: Friday May 23rd
- Time: Varies, depending on time zone, or daylight savings times:
- VIC/NSW/TAS/ACT: 7pm - 8:30pm
- SA: 6:30pm - 8pm
- QLD: 6pm - 7:30pm
- NT: 5:30pm - 7pm
- WA: 4pm - 5:30pm - Location: Online via Zoom. Link sent to attendees on the day of the group. Please register for this link.
- Accessibility:
- The support group will run for 1.5 hours, including a short break in the middle.
- Automatic captions will be available throughout the group.
- Attendees will be asked to share any accessibility requests during sign-up for this event.
