MEDIA RELEASE:  New CEO appointed at Carers Victoria

Judith Abbott starts a new chapter with Peak Body Carers Victoria as Chief Executive Officer.

Judith takes up the role at a pivotal time for Carers Victoria, coinciding with National Carers Week 2021 and the launch of the organisation’s new strategic plan.

Judith Abbott said, “I’m very excited to be joining Carers Victoria and leading the expansion of work to support and empower unpaid carers across Victoria, especially at a time when carers continue to experience significant stress and caring responsibilities due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”

Judith’s experience ranges from senior roles in Victorian government as well as work with private and member-based organisations. She brings a solid understanding of the rapidly evolving health and social care environments and the challenges and opportunities that face not-for-profit, member-based organisations.

Acting Chair of Carers Victoria’s Board Callum Ingram said, “Judith brings extensive experience in strategy, service design and advocacy to Carers Victoria in what is an exciting time for the organisation. Judith has a genuine interest in carers and is keen to apply her knowledge and experience to strengthen Carers Victoria’s influence and impact to help it, and most importantly carers themselves, thrive.”

Judith has been the Chief Executive Officer at Vision 2020 Australia, a national body working to prevent avoidable blindness and improve vision care.

Judith commences the role as CEO at Carers Victoria in early October just in time to launch National Carers Week 2021 on Sunday 10 October alongside the Honourable Luke Donnellan, Minster for Carers.
