New carer services from July

The Integrated Carer Support Service is a Commonwealth reform of services for carers.

The Integrated Carer Support Service is a Commonwealth reform of services for carers. Under the new arrangements, funding for existing services are being merged into a single Carer Gateway which will commence rolling-out in September.

From July, carers will be able to access the new supports and services through the Carer Gateway website at carergateway.com.au

  • Peer support to connect you with an online community forum for carers to share their stories, knowledge and experience with other carers.

  • Self-guided coaching to support and teach you skills online at your own pace, on a range of topics related to your caring situation.

  • Phone-based counselling service to provide you with short-term emotional and psychological support when you need it.

  • Practical skills courses to improve your general skills and knowledge about your caring role.

Under the new arrangements important carer services will remain, including:

  • Information and advice

  • Peer support

  • Counselling (up to six sessions with a skilled and qualified counsellor)

Recipients of Carers Victoria's services will remain in place until November to support you while you move to the new Carer Gateway service providers.
